A lake is natural, a reservoir is man made. Caddo is the only natural lake in Texas. I thought a reservoir was used to supply water to a city, where a lake is just a body of water. Thus this is the first reservoir to be built in the last 30 years not the first lake in that time.

Reservoirs, lakes, same thing in texas. There is only one lake in Texas that is not man made and that is Caddo Lake. They all serve to provide water for humans nearby. I hope we get another one closer to Rockwall. The NTMWD is raping cities with water rates. They even charge us for water that we don't use. My water bills are beyond ridiculous. The nextdoor sites are lit up with people complaining and the NTMWD has the cities and their citizens by the short hairs. My water bills are between $200 and $300 a month. No leaks, minimal watering to save foundation settling. My electricity bills are 1/2 of that in the dead of summer. I can shop for electricity providers but not water, since there is but one. I think that is called a monopoly and the people are getting fed up with being hammered.

It was impounded in 1990 for the sole purpose to have water for Jacksboro.

A lake is natural, a reservoir is man made. Caddo is the only natural lake in Texas. Well, there are some others with asterics Big Lake--Reagan County. Usually stays dry these days (the natural springs that feed it were disrupted by mining activity) Sabine lake--It's mostly in Louisiana and is partly salt water Green Lake--It's just south east of Victoria--a natural tidal lake Natural dam lake--usually dry Caddo is now partially managed by a man made dam, so there are those that argue it isn't 100% natural anymore. Sabine Lake is very salty. Salt levels can fall with big rains but classically salt (as is the Laguna (Lake) Madre). Salt water intrude 20 miles up the Neches. There is a salt water barrier just above Beaumont to prevent salt intrusion further north at times of low flow. Half in Texas. Here's the map, follow the thicker gold line:

This'll be a good one! That's cool. I was on a 2000 acre deer lease in the lower right corner. Wonder if it will stay full? That's some dry country.

Lake Bodark or Bodark Lake sounds more Texan. Bois 'd Arc sounds like wheezy ana. Cotton was king in that black dirt back in the day. Till' it played out. Then it grew Bois'd Arc trees and cattle. All the fence post on our ranch were Bois'd Arc cut with a crosscut saw by my Dad and the hired help..... they will play heck on a fiberglass boat and will be there another 100 years. Be careful out there. supposed to make a good bow too. I had a friend that told me the Indians preferred it over other woods. He was going to make his own but not sure he ever did.

I still waiting for the new lake that's suppose to be built between Montgomery and Navasota. Maybe I can have water front property then.

I know a bunch of folks in that area that gave up their farms. As far as fingerlings.... There are a ton of stock tanks with bass and catfish. Not sure if it will take in Crocket and Coffee Mill.... but had good days on those lakes in the 60's with my Grandmother. My great Grandfather had a draft horse business and provided the teams that built those lakes pulling a blade. Rented them to FDR's WPA. My grandfather ran a team. Got pictures of him moving dirt behind a team somewhere. Great GD had a connection... Sam Rayburn was a childhood friend. If you go to Bois D Ark creek behind the dam.... the banks are sandstone cliffs with initials from the '30's scratched into them. Including me and most all my family. And yes... it runs North to the Red.
