My plan is to thaw some and fry them up. Ain't mad enough at them to fight the wind and cold the older I get.

I have to repsectfully disagree with those who say the spawn will start in February, at least not this year. I havent personally ever seen it on north Texas lakes, Ive seen a little bit of spawn in march, but February is usually when we get the coldest weather of the year. I believe what youre seeing is simply the tail end of the winter crappie run up in the backs of creeks.

I'll be fishing structure contours and timber in 15 to 20'....I don't have time to hunt for shallow crappie...when There are plenty still deeper.
The driving force and secret desire of every bass fisherman, is to one day be a crappie fisherman............Could it be that the good Lord just smilies and looks the other way when a fisherman tells a lie?

Now I'm really confused....I was just told we are going to have an early spring because that groundhog didn't see his shadow. Now, what should I do?

So far, I've been every morning this week. Have caught some decent fish, but lots of little ones (10'-11'). Right now everything is being caught about 15-20'. My February history tells me to fish deep.

You keep waiting till April and I will keep catching them spawning in feb and march.

I'm also fishing deep until the bite changes. No need to search now.

Heck I can't find them anywhere. Been fishing 35-42fow and getting a few bites, mostly on small jigging spoons. But a friend at church told me that his friend fishing a creek at Fork was catching them in 2-3ft. dunking minnows!
