I am looking to add a few more reels. At $99 i have found the Revo X, the BPS pro qualifier and the Shimano Casitas. Which would you get or is there another in this price range that is better or even a better built reel for less $$$?

Daiwa Tatula SV TW

It's $14 over your budget but you wont be disappointed. The seller is legit too, I've already bought 4 of these from him.

Why buy a new $100 reel when you can get $200+ reels gently used for less than $100. Id take 1 used Revo Stx over 3 new x or bass pro qualifiers any day of the week.

I always brag about the H20 Xpress Mettle MT2 from Sports Academy.

It's a steal at $59.

I buy used Shimanos and rebuild to suit my needs. Plenty of parts are available and a used Calais, properly rebuilt, will last you a long time. New stuff is nice.....and expensive

Get Reel, Go Fishing! smile I've landed huge bass on an ultralight by south bend and had a newly oiled LEWs model lock up on me during a fight (pulled that sucker in hand over hand with the line). What I mean is buying a "good" reel doesn't mean it won't break...
Buying quality (Lews, Calcutta,) usually gives the best long-term option and warranty. But there are plenty of brands in your budget that would work for you and maybe anglers who don't fish much?

Let me know how it goes?

BPS Pro-Qualifier is smooth! Tested it at the BassPro...

Got an email ad from grabagun.com today and they are now selling reels. Local business based in Coppell. $104 for Lews Tournament MB. Looks like they have Lews, Shimano, Abu and a few Quantum at very competitive prices.

You can listen to all these guys that have to have reels over $200 (I do too, they are nice to have.) BUT. I think one of the best damn reels I've ever owned is an H20 Xpress Mettle from academy for $60. I even fished saltwater with them, abused them, and they keep rolling no matter what. Bulletproof!

So my vote... Pay $60 for the Mettle, then use the other $40 on braid/lures.

On second thought, go with the Daiwa because you don't want anybody to see you with an H20 reel.......

I have an older Shimano Curado (8 or so years) and it still works like new. I have several BPS reels. I also have a Lews and some round Abu Garcias. All of them are great and will probably outlast me. Get what you like. I do think most of the cheap reels are cheap. However, the only cheap reel I see consistent good reviews on. So much so, I'm getting one. Just not sure if it should be the HD or the MT2.

A brand new Daiwa Tatula SV TW for $105 over the Revo X for $99 is a no brainer...
