I spoke with a man that lives on the lake this morning( well, on the shore of the lake) and he said the catfishing is great. He also said that whites are plentiful over the humps in the lake. The wind is still a factor, but he has a larger boat than I do so that helps.

last sat. had another good day. caught 20 bass, 4 whites, and some bluegill. Most of the bass came on bandit 100 series and chug bugs fished around the grass.

I was at Lake Conroe this past Monday, Tuesday, and today and was not able to fish due to the storms. I did speak with several people fishing from the bank and they were doing well on bluegills and small channel cats. I came home today and will wait for the weather to settle down and try again next week.

Just came back from Lake Conroe this morning after spending three days fishing for catfish. I did manage a good catch each of the two days the wind and storms did not prevent me from fishing. However, the largest was a little over eight pounds with most less than two pounds. I saw a fellow catching white bass at a good rate. I assume he was on a school for a while. Either I missed the crappie spawn or it was bad this year. I spoke with several crappie fishermen and they said they have not had much luck so I don't know if it is a late spawn or just a weak spawn this spring. I saw lots of black bass fishermen on the lake but I did not see or hear of any of size being caught. The weather is really tough to figure out for the past month or so and this morning there were gust up to 23mph.

I failed to mention that the lake is really heating up in temperature and the oxygen level has begun to drop at the deeper levels.

the big bluegill in conroe should be bedding like crazy. i had a couple good trips for them in May.
Man there are some monster bluegill in there (redears I've caught have tended to run small though, which was suprising to me).

oh, and that happens a lot in stained water-the oxygen depletion at depths. A lot of the waters I used to fish in LA were like that. Even though conventional wisdom says the fish should be deep, they were only like 3-5 feet deep due to deprived oxygen.
Of course these lakes I mention had cypress trees in that depth of water that held fish all year long...I miss cypress trees vs. submerged timber...

aggie, I agree with you. Generally, the cool water deep will hold more oxygen. However, it seems that Conroe does not follow this. I am still waiting for my oxygen ppm measuring device from Cabelas.

All I can say after today is... That is some tough fishin'. We had a lot of fun though! I'll be back though, Conroe will NOT get the better of me!

Started the day (6-14-07) looking for stripers and had good action landing a few with some whites and some yellow bass trolling spoons.
Fished for LMB's most of the day on the grass beds around Lake Little Creek with very limited success. A dink, a 2 pounder and a couple misses. Mostly fished soft plastics and tried some cranks. Tried depths from 1' to 20' and never really could find them. Storms chased us off the lake in the late afternoon.
Water temp was mostly 87 all day but did creep up to 88 or so.
Fun day but tough. Here's a link to a few pics. http://new.photos.yahoo.com/album?c=brices@sbcglobal.net&aid=576460762404515061&pid=&wtok=uhNFhcv6v5F0RcO_IZp7zw--&ts=1181991337&.src=ph

I can't even count all the fish I caught this spring along the bank where that last pic was taken. I caught 3 5 lbers. on consecutive casts off that house that has the deck just in the water that goes along the bank (right side of the pic).

Well we fished both the inside and outside edges and the holes. We tried jigs, worms, frogs, cranks and just didn't seem to find them. Alot of the areas we fished we found tons of matted grass that we couldn't punch through but we did spot casts holes with no luck.

A resident we talked to says it grows faster than her lawn! Her and her husband were cutting from a little jon boat that had a cutter rigged up to it some how. They had piles of it stacked on their deck that they dry out, bag and let the garbage men take. It's so thick those people can't even get their boats out. Fishing it was tough. Was wondering if anyone has tried some kind of puncture baits to get through the mats? Is it even possible?
