I've shipped and received rods with both. Which do you prefer to get the rod there in 1 piece? And what about the rates? Does one have better than the other? Thanks in advance

They are both capable of doing great or destroying a shipment. Best of luck!

FedEx is always cheaper for me and they usually get there in one piece.

Pack it correctly (wrapped in packing paper and stuffed in a pvc pipe) and you'll be fine with any carrier. Most damage occurs by improper packaging....kinda like this attempt by Amazon to pack and ship a rod and reel combo......

I have shipped over 20 rods via USPS. It's the only way to go. I ship all kinds of stuff ( I'm a ebay seller ) and USPS is by far the safest, cheapest and fastest. Never had one problem. Just pack it right and you're good to go.

Always use PVC pipe!! And wrap in bubble wrap or use foam pieces especially on the ends and something in the middle to prevent rod slap.
I haven't mailed too many rods but have received numerous ones from all over and I would think USPS is "better" and from the labels I see on the tubes they appear to be cheaper than UPS/FedEx. With the new tendency for rods over 8' I'm sure its going to be a good bit more expensive than normal.

Fedex, neither of those two care about packages Normally I would disagree with this statement, but I just received a brand new G. Loomis IMX Pro crankbait rod broken in half via USPS. I've shipped and received numerous rods with USPS and never had a problem. Needless to say, I'm on the fence about USPS.

FedEx on for me. I've had UPS and USPS lose stuff in the past.
I love the smell of two stroke in the morning.

I just shipped 2 rods with FEDEX. They were cheaper than UPS. I did learn this... Ship a 95" tube and it's $27 (to the destination of my buyer) Ship a 96" tube... it's $150. I went back home and cut the tube down.

This all sure makes you appreciate free shipping, doesn't it!!!
I have used FedEx without problem the last few times and they were cheaper than the UPS store just down the street - comparison shopping...
