I am looking to buy one of the Dobyns Fury rods to test them out, and am wanting advice on what is the most versatile length/action. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks.

In my opinion it would be the 734C.

You could throw trigs, jigs, squarebills, etc. Pretty versatile rod.

I use my 734C�s (which is a champion series rod) for a lot as well. The Fury equivalent would be a 7�3� Heavy I believe

i have four 734c if that says anything. pretty much anything that has a completed weight over 3/8 this rod is awesome. Dobyns power rating are on the weaker side in my opinion. heavys feel more like med-hvys...lots of tip to them.

I use a 704 for a multitude of things. Love it for a 1/4 oz heavy hook jig rod

I have a fury 733 its good for spinnerbaits, bladed jigs, weight less plastics, but I would agree with the others the 734 or the 704 is more versatile rod.

734 all the way. I use my 734 champ primarily as a chatterbait/spinnerbait/swimjig rod, but i�ve also used it for jigs, paddle tails, lipless crankbaits, medium and shallow diving crankbaits, texas rigs, heavy shakey heads, and topwaters. It will fit just about any technique you want to fish outside of specialty stuff.

I have not used the Fury line, but I have a few in the Savy line up. If the Fury is like the Savy line then the actions are really softer than what they claim to be. Example: Dobyns med hvy is more like a medium in other brands.

II agree, the 734 is probably what you are looking for. GREAT versatile rod for LOTS of applications. Pretty god back bone and a soft tip. What are you wanting to use the rod for? You say what you are wanting to throw with it and we might be able to help more, but the 734 is probably the most versatile rod them make for bass fishing. Hope this helps. Have to agree with everyone above. You sent a generic question by not stating what lures you wanted the rod for and you got generic answers: 734. The Dobyns 734 is a very versatile(generic) weight/action rod. I have several 734's in the Champion and Fury lines and love them for many different things: spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, chatterbait, medium swimbaits, jigs....and for soft plastics("worm fishing") the 734 shines. With the exception of big heavy jigs or 12" worms, topwater frogs, larger swimbaits or the real light finesse lures(drop shots...) the 734 really is an extremely versatile weight rod. FYI: 734 means a 7'3" rod and a 4 weight action. If you are someone who prefers a shorter length rod go with the 704 or even the 664 if that is your taste but the "4" weight /action is definitely the most versitile across the Dobyns lineup. I am looking to purchase a Dobyns Fury Series bait casting rod. I am a bank fisherman and will be using the rod to throw 1/4 to 3/8 oz. crankbaits, 1/4 to 1/2 oz. lipless crankbaits and 1/4 to 3/8 oz. chatterbaits. Any recommendations are appreciated.
