We are planning a trip to POC in April. We have been coming down in May for a couple weeks of wade fishing for the past two years and have been able to wet wade. How will it be in April to wet wade? Have waders but prefer to wet wade.

Maybe. Who knows? Might be a little shrinkage if you get to that depth.

April 1st or April 30th? Whats your tolerance for cooler water? Whats the weather going to do? People, Ive wet waded thigh deep trout streams where the water is in the 50s and waist deep surf in the low 60s, but its not initially very comfortable on either account. Ive read theres a 100 degree rule where the air and water temperature should add up to at least 100 degrees to consider wet wading for safety from getting hypothermia. But then again, people can get hypothermia in water at 77 degrees or less being fully immersed.
So will it kill you to wet wade in a typical Texas April in POC? Probably not. But will it be comfortable, who knows?

Thanks for the input. I know it will depend on the weather, personal tolerance, etc. Just looking for experienced, educated guesstimates....

You'll be fine in April.
I went on a 'wet wade' before Christmas for about an hour - no problem - mid thigh depth.

In the morning it's a bit chilly but you get use to it fast, later in the day no problem.

I will wear a long sleeved thermal 'underwear' shirt under my Columbia fishing shirt in very early spring - which keeps my chest warm from wind and until sun comes up, cap keeps my head warm - that's all I need.

Grinder55 I see you're from Rockport...how is the area recovery going? I understand Rockport got hit much harder than POC.
We have been fishing POC in May the last couple years and had pretty good fishing. How is April fishing typically?
