It is estimated that up to 35,000 die a year from the flu. It makes no sense at all not to get the yearly flu shot. Im with you. Ive had the shot every year the last 13 years. I got the flu once, at Christmas, I felt bad one day and it was gone after 3 days. People are different and have different immune systems. As for me and mine, we get the shot. If you dont get the shot and never get the flu, then by gawd, good for you.

I've gotten the flu shot for the past 10 years or more and no flue. Once or twice it has gotten me down for a day, but that's it.

Have had the flu twice in 50 years. I'd rather take my chances then guaranteed to miss a couple days work because of a shot.

As a kid in the late 70s and 80s where was the flu shots..why we need them now .. Remember the Swine Flu outbreak in the 70's? They started giving mass flu shots out, and then a number of people started having GuillainBarre syndrome, basically makes you paralyzed. I never wanted a flu shot after that.

to me its just plain nuts not to get a flue shot or any other available and affordable vaccine for that matter.
Wish they drop the age requirements on the shingles vaccine so younger folk could get it. My wife has already had a case of shingles in her 40's and it was definitely not a fun experience....

I recently learned that my grandfather died of the flu in 1918 at the age of 31, five months before my father was born. I think that the story of that pandemic has been lost to many because it occurred at roughly the same time as WW I, but it took more lives than the war.

I dont know what the Air Force gave me, but on day 1 of boot camp they lined us up and had a bunch of guys with the air gun immunization guns. Had us walk down the line and each of them gave us a shot in the arm. I still have 3 raised bumps in a triangle shape on my arm from that. 23 years ago now. I cant recall having the flu since then, so it mustve worked.
Team wolfs I had to perform. It took a minute to get it all in my mouth and another five to swallow it all.

I'm about as big a advocate for vaccines as they come, but I normally don't get the flu shot. On even the best years they are usually only about 60% effective. I've gotten the shot about a dozen times. 100% of those times I've felt like [censored] for 2-3 days after. It's true thousands of people die annually from the flu, but virtually all of those are very young, very old, or have some other major medical issue. I'd encourage everyone to get it, but personally... I'll take my chances.

People get "colds" all the time still today. Many that I work with are coughing, hacking and sneezing. But because society today looks down upon someone with a cold because it could be contagious, the people with colds will say, "These damn allergies". Allergies, Upper Respiratory Infection, Cold, Flu, no one knows. Some mild cases of the "flu" may be mistaken as a cold or allergies. My daughter had some allergy symptoms, went to the doc, they tested for the flu and said "You have the flu". No other symptoms, just congestion, runny nose, etc. I always considered the flu to be when you get knocked down. I mean headache, puking, shixting, couging, hacking etc. Some folks with the flu like to say "I'm feeling "Puny" today. Puny, WTH is that, puny? Puny is when your skinnyg and weak. In summary, I do get the flu shot, but they say there is a 33% chance it will work. I've probably had the flu "allergies" 20 times. Who knows.
