Full face helmet with flip up shield. Great for all the reasons listed plus eliminates wind noise. I have removed the straps so if I do go in, the helmet should pull off. Hopefully provide some protection as I fly out.

Huh. I've never given any thought to wearing a motorcycle helmet in cold weather. Really good idea!

Columbia full face mask does just fine without the bulkiness. It saves more room for baits in your storage areas...

One thing I would add is treat the shield with a product like Rain X. It will repel the water for better vision while running.

Take one with glass in the front -- it protects your eyes from a stray jighead. You fish with a motorcycle helmet on?...and one with a glass shield? Interesting You beat me to it bro....

Wow how did I fish winter without one. No eye tears from the cold. Ears stayed warm. Cut out the wind noise. Worth every dollar I paid for it. If you have not tried a motorcycle helment you are missing the boat.

I was told years ago if you're going to wear a motorcycle helmet in a boat don't strap it. okay why If you get thrown out of the boat the helmet fills with water. Could cause more problems than it solves. Acute 'problem' is drowning in your own helmet.

Come off if you get thrown out of the boat. I personally just wear a pair of clear ski goggles of raining... Decapitating yourself would be on the extreme, but snapping your neck like a twig would be more of a concern even at much slower speeds.
