Had another good day today... 15 or so (wind kept me out of where I wanted to fish for 2/3 of the fishing day) had one about 5, couple solid 4+'s, and several around 3... wish I'd have been in a 5 fish limit tourny...(although if I was, I wouldn't have caught jack

I totally thrashed them today... I caught at least 30...probably closer to 40... Got the most fish on chug bugs and pink trick worms, but also got a few on spinnerbaits, bandit 100 series (including that one that almost went 7 lbs...), and a couple on Manns 1- (had one jump off that was as big as the one I boated). The fish are in Little Lake Creek, on the bank between the holes of Bentwater that are on the lake. The trick worm fish are right on the bank, the chug bug fish were mainly on that ridge where there's 3 white stakes and a buoy about a cast out from the piers...there's a hole in grass along that ridge, and there's a ton of fish there... The best areas for the trick worm (and admittedly it's MOSTLY small fish, but I got 2 3's today, and a 5 lber yesterday on it) are right against the bank where there is a bare spot (no grass) between the seawalls and the grass. Fish were either right on the bank, or just after you pull it over the initial grass. Most of the chug bug fish came off that ridge...I put the boat over the thick grass farther out, cast over the ridge almost to the piers, then fished it all the way back. The crankbait fish came by fishing long casts to the piers there...it is very annoying, but I caught a lot of good fish by fishing the holes in the grass (shows up easily as a brown spot in the dark green)... I saw a lot of fish that were still spawning, and cleaned some that had spawned out (including the near 7 lber, which I'm eating right now, and it's GOOD). It was a lot of fun... of the 5 fish I cleaned, the smallest was 3 lbs even... oh, yeah, I decided in the morning that I wanted to eat some, and that 9 oz bluegill decided to jump on my crankbait...

pink is weird, but once in the water, the trick worm has a super sweet action...
I don't think it really makes a difference what color it is, it's just that fished 1 to 2 feet under the surface, pink is the easiest color to see...because if there's skill to fishing it, it's when and how to set the hook...
one of the main things I do is cover a TON of water in a day, and fish as many high percentage spots as I can...it's kinda my fishing philosophy...

well, the fish are still biting, got this one (9.7 lbs) on a pink trick worm. Pretty much same report as before. Once again in cloudy, windy weather though. Decided to keep some fish to eat (big fish was released after some quick pics and a short trailering though), and these were our best 5 (had 6 over 16' though). Probably caught around 15 total from daylight to noon.

I think the "Pink" worm your talking about is what most people call Bubble Gum. Great catches, I love catching fishing on a floating trick worm.

When did you go out to catch those fish, and where on Lake Conroe were you. I went out yesterday to break in my friends new boat, but we couldn't stay in the middle because of the wind, so we went out to the little coves at the south end. We didn't catch anything but a really big stick and some weeds. Please, tell your secrets!

I spent four days on Lake Conroe trying to fish for catfish. When the weather cooperated, the fishing was excellent for cats from 14 to 18 inches. However, the wind was horrific and I came back yesterday. As usual, it settled today and I was told the fishing was excellent once again.

basically the creek north of Atkins creek (April Plaza Marina is in Atkins creek). The name of it is Little Lake Creek.
Go past the big island on the right as you go in, past the powerlines, and past the little island. Fish the bank to just out from the piers from the little island bridge all the way to where a lot of brush (and it's a lot) is grown up outside the piers. Also the bank across the lake from these spots is good too.
Look for holes in the grass either right along the banks, or out. It seems the fish are in the holes in the grass on the inside edge of the hydrilla.
Seems everything's been working, crankbaits (annoying, but they work), spinnerbaits, trick worms, senkos, texas rigs, and i've got some on a topwater bait on cloudy days.
I caught the big ones on Sat., and just some smaller fish on sunday (it was a TERRIBLE day to fish as far as the weather was concerned).
Also in Lewis creek (straight across the lake from Little Lake Creek) I've been catching fish from the 1097 rip rap back to Anchorage marina. It's pretty much the same type stuff as in Little Lake.

Ended up with a mixed bag on 4/15... 1 hybrid, 2 white bass, 1 crappie, and a dozen catfish.
Too much wind and too many boats to stay on top of the white bass and hybrids. We moved into the coves and targeted the catfish.
