Well sharing a question posed to me today: Do Hybrids-Stripers-Sand Bass school on top at night after dark? Anyone ever see them?
I have not and do not know.

I have seen them do it at PK, but it was 25+ years ago. I used to sneak a few of my granddads red white and blue cans from the fridge and sit on the dock and catch bait for the next days catfishing. Those things would pop up 20' from the dock and scare the carp out of you. I kept a rod and reel with a Little Cleo on it handy, and could always catch a few as the passed by.

I have seen it frequently on PK around some docks that have their lights on. Usually in November when the water starts to cool down.

I would like to say as a general rule, no....lol
BUT, the amount of time Ive spent on the water after the sun sets is minimal...so I really dunno.
Great question...Ive wondered myself.

I know fish feed up in the shallows at night especially with a full bright moon so I would assume they do. Like Michael though, I dont do a lot of night fishing. Last time I went was last summer when the meteor shower was going on early in the morning around 2.00am. My only night trip last year.

This past November full moon took my grandson and his girlfriend out laid in parallel to shore 5 to 6 foot out from shore (shoreline between peanut and jetty), heard fish in shallow, real shallow- caught em on buzz baits a couple really nice fish, full moon overcast. Just tried to load the pics couldnt get them to post. Maybe tomorrow. We stayed on the for abou 5 minutes and they moved on. Caught a couple back to back in 2 of Water.

I have done a ton of night fishing. I have never seen them on top. Most has been done on Richland Chambers but many trips on Twok too.

I have seen Stripers on top feeding on ghost minnows at PK that come to the green lights. In fact, I caught three keeper stripers this year at my favorite crappie spot that has a mercury light very close to the water. There's usually a big circle of ghost minnows and perch under that light. When I pulled up there were stripers all over the surface just gobbling ghost minnows. These fish were from 15-20 inches. I caught a few fish then they left.
As for seeing them in moonlight or pitch black feeding, I have not witnessed that. They may do that but I have not seen it.
John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

Never seen it personally, but I was out at night a couple of years ago on tawakoni and heard a school pushing bait against the bank. I was setup catfishing so i didn't go after them, but I know the sound of surfacing fish, and this was a decent size school pushing bait. It lasted about 10 minutes, then nothing the rest of the trip.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space!
