How big are the sand bass? On Belton I use a 1 /4 oz jig and on Tawakoni I use a 1 and 1/2 oz jig. Bigger fish get bigger baits. Sand bass in a spawning mode get a 1/8 oz jig.

Be careful. Hook type makes a difference. Some molds use a light wire EC 570 hook. A hard charging sand bass and most any hybrid or striper will bend that hook. Regardless of size you want them with heavy duty hooks.

How "deep" are you catching them, on average??
Winter creek fishing (shallow), 1/16-1/8
Deep water (anything over about 20', to me), would use at least 1/4 oz
