They need to stiffen the penalties for pit bull owners who's dogs attack people. I hate to see new laws and regulations, but people need to be held accountable for the actions of dangerous dog breeds. I truly believe that any dog, no matter how docile, is capable of snapping for apparently no reason. That said when a Chihuahua bites the consequences are far less devastating then when a pit bull does. I have some great friends who have them and I refuse to go into their house with my kids. Not a risk I'm willing to take.

likely the owner whipped & beat those dogs as well as withheld food, most pit bulls are gentle docile creatures that sleep with babies and young children, its certain the attack was provoked .

No question that dog owners should be held accountable for what these killer dogs do. No different than pulling the trigger on a gun.
Pit bull owners will never take that responsibility. It's always somebody else's fault.
Letting a pit run around loose in the neighborhood is no different than walking around deer camp with a loaded gun and the safety off. Not a matter of if but when.

From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."

Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

Its not the breed that's the problem, its the owners.

Pit bulls should all be exterminated. It's the owners and it's the breed.

It is the breed. Some owners may contribute, but there have been many good owners attacked by their pit bulls with no provocation. It happens time and time again and people never learn.

That's like saying I could have a pet alligator and as long as I was nice to it, I wouldn't have anything to worry about.

I have trained many dogs. I assure you its the owners. Pits are very protective breed, much like German Shepherds. There's several unprovoked attacks by German Shepherds as well, but you don't hear about them because Pits have the notoriety in reference to the attacks. Put an owner that knows how to socialize the breed properly - then you don't have the drama.
