I am going to update my depthfinder on my Flacon king stripper inboard/outboard. Plan on going with either the Lowrance Elite-12ti or Hummungbird Helix 10.
Question: Will the side imaging work well on both side if it is an I/O. Not sure if it will have clear path to the Port side.

It depends if you can get a clear shot left and right from the transom. If you go Humminbird you can use two transducers with a splitter cable that will separate left and right side imaging to the head unit. This would be the splitter cable and you would need another transducer. This one will work with mega or gen 1 helix https://www.humminbird.com/Products/MSILR-Y/

Thank you. That is very helpful. That one says it is for use with the Solix, im assuming they have one for the Helix as well.

The current model is 9 M SILR Y. The previous two versions are discontinued ( AS SILR Y and MSILR Y ). The AS SILR Y will not work with the MEGA units.

If you have a jack plate, you can also mount the transducer on the bottom of a hole shot plate. I did that no my Seaark and it works great up to around 7MPH, then the transducer isn't in the water. If I were going to redo it, I would probably go with the dual transducers and the cable.
