For the first time in my life I’ve been more worried about fishing than hunting but am way out of my element fishing a winter pattern. Going to try to get multiple trips the next couple weeks and was hoping to gain insight on what 4 setups would be a solid starting point.
1/2-3/4oz jig with craw trailer Drop shot or C-rig with a brush hog or fluke 4-5” swim bait with belly hook or jig head Suspending jerkbait
Some things I’ve read talked about throwing DD22s but then others say bass are slow to react so that didn’t seem like what I needed?

pretty close to what I do. but not sure that's a good thing for you:) I always keep a small roadrunner jig tied on my spinning set up. as for cranks, I throw one that dives much deeper than the depth I'm fishing so I can slow roll it and keep it on the floor. also, saw and article on rigging a jerkbait on a CRIG, gets it down to the bottom, free floats to keep some action and suspends it.

Scott,
Let the lake conditions dictate what you throw. Those 4 setups are some good ones for winter, but I would not rule out a deep crank like the DD22 you mentioned.
As a general rule of thumb for me, water clarity determines what and where I fish most all of the time, and temp does not make a difference. Dirtier the water, shallower I fish. If I can see bottom in 2' of water, I consider that clear and will be moving offshore or to some steep banks. I personally like to just be able to see the trolling motor head, that's the clarity I'm most comfortable with.
If you've got stained water and some shallow cover, that jig is hard to beat.
If you've got clear water, start looking for deeper cover (could be boathouses in 6-10'), or deeper structure like roadbeds (and the ditches), humps, sharp drops on points. That's where the drop shot, big crank, c-rig and possibly suspending jerk bait would be good.
I've had some great days in 2' of water when it was in the upper 40s, in 15' of water on a road bed with a big crank when it was in the low 50s, and 4-8' of water with a jerkbait on steep rocky banks when it's anywhere from mid 40s to mid 50s.
Don't forget a trap, if you've got grass or rocks, that trap is a good bait to keep in the water.
You being in Weatherford, I'm assuming you may be fishing PK? I'm betting if you find the right bluff end, something like a Pointer 100 DD might make for a great day.
Slow down on everything but the trap.

+1 on everything he said, at PK this time of year a jerkbait and tight wobble crank baits are usually hard to beat. I’ll be there fishin tomorrow so I’ll let you know how well they work..
Thanking the lord for another day on the water
