Would you expect an algae bloom this time of year?
I was working at my waterfront lot on Lake Palestine today, and noticed a long area of murky green in the water along the shoreline. I could not determine how extensive it was, since I was land bound.
Just last week, the water had been exceptionally clear.
Any thoughts?

I've found out locally that the algae bloom in my local lakes was dependent on rainfall and water temperature. Algae will thrive when the temp stays above 55 and when rainfall is low. It hasn't affected fishing where I fish and fish are healthy, but public warnings have been issued to avoid water contact with the skin and don't let dogs wade in it.

Algae blooms can occur in winter. I had a research project on algae blooms (Sam Rayburn and Murvaul) back when attending college at SFA.
