I am fairly new to crappie fishing and have been recently really getting into it. I currently have a slip I rent and fish on Lake Lavon. With all of this rain and the influx of so much water what should I expect? Does heavy rain affect fishing much, or should it be about the same after a couple of days? Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks fellas.

One of our slip member fished yesterday in the middle of the rain and caught a dozen slabs. I guess humans don't like to get wet, fish are already wet and do not mind the rain, they still have to eat

Rain doesn't bother slip fishing much. Creek fishing is a whole different ball game LOL.

I did well Wednesday morning, lake came up about 6 inches. At 30 foot, surface 53 degrees, it didn't seem to have any negative effect.

Correct me if I am wrong but I always heard and seen for myself that in the winter time the 2 worst things are MUDDY WATER and CURRENT (Current would be caused by a big rain or rise in lake level)

Correct me if I am wrong but I always heard and seen for myself that in the winter time the 2 worst things are MUDDY WATER and CURRENT (Current would be caused by a big rain or rise in lake level) If the water is usually clear and suddenly gets muddy then that is the worst thing especially with it being cold. I believe the fish go into shock and it takes them some time to adjust to the new water color. If the water is normally always muddy, then the fish adjust and I seem to do good even if it is cold. I really feel that the muddy water (when it is usually clear) is one of the biggest ways to kill a bite no matter the time of year. The current doesn't help but the fish can adjust to current and get out of it. A lot of times in the creeks, the fish cant escape from the muddy water.

On Guntersville, if the TVA starts releasing more than 50K, the bite turns on. Especially on the bridge pilings.

I did pretty good in the rain in the creek last week but I was there when it first started raining hard. But tried again the other day and struck out due to the muddy water. Current is a factor due to water temps as often the current is water colder than the main lake. But when this is not true and the current is warm it draws up shad nicely and crappie will be lurking.
