@FishTheBite: I worked on this off and on in my spare time last week - maybe 6hrs. The hardest part to me was the soldering. The WeMos kit comes with several shields and lots of headers, just pay attention to the pins when you put it together. The kit didn't come with any instructions but you can find lots of information on the web. As for the code, I did write it myself - (I'm a computer programmer but I think anyone could write this stuff). The code is between 20 and 30 lines, if that much. I can send it to anyone that wants it. @johnnlucky: That's pretty cool. Parts that I used for my thumper: -------------------------------------------- - https://www.amazon.com/RobotDyn-ESP8266-...mos+d1+mini+pro- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01ENT1PPM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1- linear actuator, part number CII/A1464 - switched potentiometer - need a diode between power and ground going to actuator

I'm curious too. Shop tested, the thumper was pulling about 1.5A.
I'm planning on trying it out this coming week. I'll probably connect it to my trolling motor battery. Should be a good test of battery drain because I'm usually spot locked when I'm fishing.

If I understand correctly, it's only going to draw 1.5 amps for the split second it's triggered. It should last a long time.

The flux capacitor requires 80MPH. I would be shy by 50MPH

MeatHauler is correct, it only draws 1.5A when it triggers.
I haven't tested the limits of the relay and solenoid. The current code will give a 200ms delay when the potentiometer is at the highest setting and a 1sec delay at the lowest. I hold the output pin high for 50ms to allow the electromagnet time to draw the plunger, might be able to reduce this value as well.
