So I am looking to purchase a few new rods. I am trying to look toward a range of $150-$180sh. My normal set ups are Texas Rig with 3/8-1/2 oz, lipless crankbait and smaller square bill, 3/8-1/2 spinnerbaits, and topwater spook/frog/popper style. Also looking into learning to jig fish and pitching as well. Been looking at the Dobyns Sierra Series. Any feedback appreciated. Thanks.

Any Dobyns rod is an excellent choice. Even their Fury line. I also rather enjoy the Duckett Micro Magic Pro that I use for flipping. Also combos well as a back up c-rig rod. And I have an Ike Series Abu Garcia composite cranking rod that is excellent for the price as well. About $120 bucks or so.
But Dobyns is a great brand.
If you can't find em wind em.

You will not be disappointed with the Dobyns. I have switched 100% to them. I really like the Sierra series they are very sensitive and light weight. I have fished with several other brands of rods that were more expensive, and Dobyns beats them hands down. I have a very large variety of them so if you have any questions about which rod works best for a certain technique I will be more than happy to help. Just pm me.

Not only is Dobyns a great brand but their customer service is second to none and that's important to me. I've had two issues over the years so I called their shop. Once I dealt with Richard Dobyns and the other time I talked to Gary. Both times my concerns were dealt with to my satisfaction and that's why I'm still buying their rods. Hard to find customer service where you are dealing with the actual owners of the company.

The great thing is you have choices...Let me throw one more name into the mix with MajorCraft. The NanoAce series is one of the better entry level offerings that most folks have not heard of. The 6.9MH or 7.3MH worm and jig, 7.3MH frog and 6.10M Don Iovino casting rods would fit the bill for what you are looking for. Give us a call or come by and check em out. You will not be disappointed. Thanks

For that price point, you may check out Temple Fork Outfitters Pacemaker rods. They're fairly new to the market. I picked up a heavy for flipping and a Medium for throwing small jerkbaits. I'm very happy with both. I'll say my Dobyn's Champs and Extremes are a little bit more sensitive, but the TFOs are close, plus I'm liking the action a little better (more parabolic than a Dobyns). The TFOs have way better guides as well.
I saw some online for $120, regular $189.

Jody, I've had some for several years and I'm rough on rods and never had an issue that wasn't from my own stupidity (which knows no bounds...)

The guides are the exact problem that I have had.
