New idea on thumping. Playing around last week and came up with this Arduino controlled thumper. Hopefully I'll get a chance to try it out next week.

Looks good, I bet it will call them in. Beats thumping and alot less work. Good luck and nice little invention.

Thanks for the replies. This setup is temporary, proof of concept. If it works, I may end up mounting the switch and controls in my side console and the actuator in my rod box.
@Buzzard Breath: The thumping part is a linear actuator.
@Bocephus: This is the first time I've uploaded a video to YouTube. I may upload another video when I use it for the first time.

I made a thumper with a rubber mallet. I do not love it. Battery got low and would only work on a higher speed. I really like the Linear Actuator. Can you say what brand it is? Can i get it on Amazon? Can you give a specific? Thank you, John

This looks like something my father in law would make. He makes all kinds of crazy chit like steam engines and God knows what else. If TSHTF tomorrow we'd rely on him to rebuild. I wonder if he can make me one of these...

I don't mind helping anyone that is interested in making one of these thumpers. I spent about $25 in parts on this project. You would need a laptop to program the micro controller (WeMos D1 Mini Pro). I bought the $19 kit on Amazon that comes with the relay. Also purchased the 12V to 5V converter from Amazon, it was cheap.
@stumpknocking: I could whip one out for you but I need another actuator. Friend of mine gave me the one in the video, he may have a couple of more. Would like to find a way to incorporate Buzzard Breath's find - the flux capacitor!
@johnnlucky: The actuator (electromagnet pull-type solenoid) is a China made part number: CII/A1464. Spec that one and I'm sure you could find something equivalent from Amazon. I think it's drawing 1-1.5A when I energize the solenoid.

That is truly awesome. How long did it take you to put together? What Is your experience level? Did you write the code yourself? What kind of instructions come with the WeMos kit?
The questions could go on and on. The lack of moving parts makes it look simple but the fact that it is digital makes it intimidating.
