Need recipe for good venison shoulder. Remember mother fixing it in the oven. Seems like she put bacon, onions and seasoning on the meat and slow baking. Requesting time, temp and recipes. Thanks in advance.

Skinnerback over on THF has a pretty good recipe he posted not long ago... he uses the smoker but I bet it'd work well in the oven. His Brine is 4 gal. water, 4cups brown sugar, 4 cups salt, 1 cup course black pepper, 1 cup garlic powder

I like my baked venison shoulders cooked this way...
season shoulder with salt, pepper, garlic.
place in large roaster with about 2 cups of broth. pour two cans of french onion soup over the top.
Cover and bake at 250 until fork shred tender. Usually over 4 hours. Shred meat off the bone and into the liquid. Eat over mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or rice.

Yuck, need to cut the membrane off of that or you will be chewing for days. he lets it sit on the pit overnight after smoking as the fire cools. Had pics of tacos in the morning looked like it melted off the bone
