Last two trips out I have repeatedly found school of bass in the back of a certain cove. I can see them moving around the cove in all sizes from lure size to maybe 5 lbs. I have tried throwing everything in the boat in every way I can think of, and not one bite. I had one big one hanging around right next to the boat long enough for me to try everything and it didn't ever go away more then casting distance. At one point I bounced a weightless worm directly onto the top of his mouth 5 ft from the boat and he spooked off. Never seen fish just hang out like that, I felt like I had a better chance of chasing them with a net then casting. It seems weird to me, not sure what I found, wondering if maybe one of the houses right there is feeding the fish or something?

There was a guy trolling in a Tracker on Canyon Lake today, and his boat was literally surrounded. He could have netted some of them! But even though he was probably a great fisherman (much better than I),bu5 he still motored away skunked.

When Bass are like that they do not want anything moving. There are two baits to try on you next trip out. - A floating Fineness Worm Wacky Rig. The hook will weight it just enough to keep it under the surface. Play with the hook sizes to get ever so slight of a fall. Just let it soak. - The smaller size Suspending Hard Stick Baits. Jerk it down to the depth you believe to be the best. Just let it set there not moving. What little bit of wind is blowing your line around will do the trick.
Then there is live bait. If they want take a Minnow fished 5 ft deep on a 12 inch split shot and bobber; you are in trouble.
Each person you work with holds some promise to your future success. It's my fault.....I told the fish to hang tight till I got back.

If you see them, they see you. Once that happens they aren't biting. Try to ease into the area and stay off the trolling motor until they show themselves or you catch one. Does seem a little odd for fish behavior though. You can also try a big swimbait reeled extremely slow

Back way off, make long casts with light line. I see a lot of fish like that in the spring and sometimes the only thin that will work is a weightless worm but you have to throw it on the bank and drag it in the water.

1.5 square bill , small A-rig , red trap , small swim jig brim color , sounds like they are up in the water column sunning them selves , long cast , reaction bite might be the only way to catch them .

Despite the colder mornings we are having here lately The backs of coves will heat up pretty good by mid morning and what I like to call cruisers will be back there roaming around in the warmer shallow waters and they tend to be really spooky! Heres how I would maybe target them.
Good pair of polarized Sunglasses SUPER long cast Try dead sticking a small suspending jerk bait like the Rapala XRap XR08 size (its about 3 inches long) Follow it up with a really small 3inch Senko type bait.
Hope that helped.

Great input guys Thank you. I will definitely keep checking that spot and trying what yall suggested until I get something figured out. That is the most fish I have ever seen with my own eyes in one area. you would think If I try enough I could at least accidently foul hook one or something

If its the cove with the sunken tree at the fork of two coves, thats a community hole, gets tons of action. If its another cove, then just post the coordinates and we will send a crack team of specialist to check it out.

Ive heard the term community hole many times, honestly I have no idea where that comes from, is there a public list or something, is that a local knowledge thing? I wouldn't know if I was in one or not lol. As far as coordinates, I will take you straight there meet me at the ramp, but then you have to teach me how to catch them!

Ned rig, drop shot, and weightless senko.
A community hole is a common or obvious fishing location where fish are known by many to congregate. Usually enough people know about it that someone is always there.
Bridges on most lakes are community holes for example. The lone rock pile on a lake, official brushpiles, coves directly off main lake on the southeast shorelines.
