Does anyone have a GM truck with this engine? I found something that seems like a good deal. But I was looking for feedback.
There wouldn't be any towing except a small trailer on rare occasions.

Had one. As far as dependability it was ok. Power was limited. And gas mileage wasn't what I thought it would be. Basically had a car with a big trunk without a lid.

What kind of mileage did you really get? For some reason a full sized truck with a V6 doesn't seem right to me.

Ironically had an Impala with same motor and it got way better gas mileage and fast as heck.

It was a few years and beers ago. Think it got about 16 to 18. It was an 05 GMC short bed single cab.

Have an 04 Chevy Silverado Single cab 4x4 with a 4.3 v6. Mileage is about 14mpg city and 16 highway. I pulled my 17ft Triton around with it. It definitely knew it was back there, but it wasn't terrible. I think mine has 188k miles on it.

Mine also has pretty big mud tires on it, but it's not lifted.

I had a 99 and 2000 model with that motor. Great motor honestly. Never had an issue with either one of them, and they had plenty of power to pull my boat around. I wouldn't put a travel trailer behind them, but they're fine for what they are.

Not going to get any better gas mileage than a v8. But I just bought my 3rd astro van I've owned AT 100,000 miles and will drive it too at least 200,000. Good motor but no gas savings with the 190hp vortex V6.

Those are great engines (for a v6) and GM made millions of them. Pretty sure its the 5.7L block just missing two pistons.

Only problem I ever had with mine was when I was doing 100k maintenance on it and used a non-OEM (auto zone brand) distributor cap & rotor. I had misfires and codes every time after it rained for months. Finally figured out the cap & rotor had caused it.
Took me so long to figure it out because I did a bunch of preventative maintenance at one time (plugs, plug wires, cap & rotor, tranmission fluid, air filter, fuel filter, etc.), otherwise it would've been an easy fix. Put AC Delco cap & rotor back on it and ran like a champ for another 75k miles until I sold it.

Good engine. Don't use overdrive when pulling.
Typhoon or Cyclone come to mind?
