Rumor has it,when the huge pipeline is complete, just to fill the pipeline it will drop the lake 6-8 ft alone,not for sure but the pipeline is now buried between Tool and Trinidad, thinking?? it's goes to 175 Trinity river close to Crandall, Anyone know anything about this?

I have talked to the reservoir manager and he said the work to date was to put the pipes in the ground and they have not yet started on pump installation. He said it will not be operational until 2019. Also, some of the water going through the pipe will come from another lake - likely Palestine - and relayed to DFW area. So, not all the water going though the pipe will come out of Cedar Creek.

That and there's still tons of pipe above the ground on the west side of the Trinity.

Cedar Creek is easy pickins when it's low.

I was told the pipeline connecting lakes was agreed to with stipulation that max drawdown was established at esch lake. 4ft at Cedar Creek?

I heard they were also running that line to Palestine and they have the writes to the top 4' of water in the lake but Tyler also pulls from Palestine and when the both start drawing the fish will be swimming on their sides. I don't understand why they don't drill a well. Ozarka has a well in Hawkins and sucks thousands of gallons each day for their bottling plant. Why don't DFW area drill wells and quite ruining our lakes.

Tarrant County Water District and Dallas Water Utilities

Once completed the pipeline, which is a joint project of the two major water utilities, will run 150 miles from Lake Palestine to Lake Benbrook. There also will be connections to Cedar Creek Lake and Richland-Chambers Reservoirs.

The plan is for the system to enable the two utilities to deliver a combined 350 million gallons per day of raw water to North Texas. It is expected to provide drought protection for 5 million people and to accommodate growth of 1.5 million new inhabitants.

Currently, I have roughly 1' of water under my dock, and this past summer 3'. I believe the lake is -2' now.

Does this suggest that the lake would stay at -4' full pool when this goes into effect? If so, I no longer have house on the lake...

No, lake level is determined by inflow minus outflow. They keep some pumps going all the time except for a occasional shut-down for maintenance. So, if we have sufficient rain in the watershed, which we have had since spring 2015, the lake will stay near full. In dry years the lake will go down, since lake authority is committed to pump a certain amount of water to Tarrant County. What is unclear is whether the commitment for water out of Cedar Creek due to the new pump station and pipeline is going to go up or stay the same. If it goes up, let's hope we continue to have rainy years like the last three.

Well I have seen this in west tx and the number 1 city is going to take care of itself and not much care for the distant cities.Hubbard creek was drained to nearly empty so abilene could have green yards and several other lakes in the area. I am no expert on what dfw will pull as they have several watersheds to pull from. but growth and demand will soon make us like california ..Texas always follows there example.I pray it doesn't happen

I have asked the Lake Palestine authority if there was a drawdown limit, and all they would say is that Dallas has rights to a certain amount of water. Dallas has dibs on the water, and lakeside property owners have no water rights.

If you go to the link and look at the schedule, you will find that some sections are not yet scheduled. There is a legal battle over part of the route of the Palestine section.

Lake Texoma makes more sense for DFW, but the water people apparently don't want to remove the salt.
Uncontrolled growth in DFW will ultimately run all our area lakes dry.

That's one way to look at it. The other is that we wouldn't even have these lakes if it weren't for Dallas and Fort Worth needing the water. The recreational aspects of these lakes was always secondary and would not have justified the expense of creating them.

They still notice the money that the recreational side of these lakes generates. With launch fees (20$ at some lakes), special permits for boating on some lakes and boating fees. We are in a La Nina pattern and are staring down another prolonged drought around here. We better hope for a wet spring...
