I come to you in desperation. My granddad who is in his late 80s has trouble walking. We had a concrete ramp poured for him use this summer but he refuses to use it since there isn’t a handrail for him to use.

Long story short I need someone who can weld up a hand rail. I can handle the installation but no one in my family is a metal worker, all carpenters.

If you know of anyone or would be willing to donate your own time (I’m telling you I’m desperate here) please let me know. I wouldn’t think it’s a big job but I could be completely wrong.

Some compensation can be given, but I don’t think we can afford to pay what a welder would make hourly.

Thank you gentleman flag

I hope someone can help you-
I really wish I could -
Good luck-

What has happed to you does not define who you are-

HOW you react to what happens to you DOES!

Welded is best in my opinion. I have no idea if codes apply to a personal residence or not.

You could fabricate something yourself if you can’t get something welded. For example, you could buy 1” tubing and compression fittings. All you would need are some tube cutters and wrenches. You could use tees and elbows. Terminate the vertical pieces into flanges which you can use with concrete anchors.

Just my two cents sir.

Thanks Dave. I wasn’t sure if there were fittings like that or not.

I’m not concerned about code, whoever lives here after my grandparents can deal with that carp. I’m here for them right now

If you can’t get a welded set up, let me know. I can help you look for that stuff.

I have some sticks of metal laying around. I could come up with a rail. How long of a ramp does he have?

Buy a prefabbed pipe rail and install it. You could prabaly go to HD or Lowe’s and buy the material to build one.
