I know some older OMC engines had pretty specific controls for hydro electric shift. Also, the controls are where your alarms come from. Gotta make sure all that matches up electronically I'm sure.

If your talking about a modern motor then yes they are all brand specific.

As long as port and starboard are the same in this dimension you are good to go.
