What is the best cold weather gear out there? I’m talking Texas cold weather gear too not Minnesota cold weather... thanks.

I like under armor base layer 2.0 long sleeve top and bottoms. It is not bulky yet keeps me toasty. Then I can layer with a fleece/long sleeve T/sweatshirt as needed. I usually go fleece and then my rain gear jacket since it is both warm and waterproof.
I have done heavy pants plus bibs (along with the UA bottoms), but I only need this when it is super cold. It is too constrictive for my tastes anyway. So I prefer the UA bottoms plus a light pant and bibs. Best part about the bibs is they protect your waist from the blast of cold air you get every time you lean over.
Nice warm wool socks and my waterproof boots (I launch solo) keep the feet warm. Then I have a sock hat or if needed an under armor face ski type mask that covers my head but also my mouth and nose if I want.
I hate bulk so this recipe works for me.

I tripped on this one day by accident and have used this every time since if it is freaking freezing.
4.0 base layer top and bottom. Then Frogg Toggs. 100mph bibs. Fleece pull over and no need for parka. Very toasty combo.
Nothing bulky and plenty of room.

I hate bulk so this recipe works for me. This is pretty much the same thing I do. I do have a UA 4.0 too for when it's really cold. I also have a pair of snow boots and put some toasty toes in and change them at mid day if my toes start to chill. The biggest key is the rain gear that will keep the wind off of you.

I've fallen out of the boat in 46° water and 22° air temp.
Waist deep.
Not sure if anything would have kept me warm.
Unless I had a survival suit from the oil platforms in the north sea...

UA Base 3.0 with fleece top/bottom mid layer under rainsuit... Wool socks with insulated boots.

Love my H20 express gear, tops and bibs!
For those that have the Under Armor 4.0 and 2.0. The 4.0 is obviously warmer? Does it feel different? Is it just thicker?

Just a little thicker IMO. Most days in Texas, the 2.0 is fine. However....on the few days you'll need 4.0, you'll dang sure be glad you have them. As long as I can keep the wind off, like others have said above, 2.0 is probably fine. I have the BPS 100mph gear, but haven't used the H2O or Guidegear, so can't say its better or worse.

Arctic Armor is the best on the market and it also floats if you fall in. I wear jeans and long sleeve shirt under it in 30* weather.
