you've inspired me - time for a thought experiment/challenge... can i design a compact one for smaller boats/kayaks . I probably would almost never use it for myself when kayaking - but i love taking other people out to fish. I've seen thumpers in action - they have a time and a place.. but they make a significant difference when used properly. I'll post here if i sort something out and build it :^^:

I wonder if you could use a bass drum pedal in a Yak, operated manually when you want it.

Hey, I'm working on a Thumper. The only part i can't find is the Brass Shaft Coupler Adapter. It attaches to the shaft of the motor. If that is what it is called. I just can't find one. I looked at Home Depot, Fastenal, Grainger, Amazon and ebay. What is it called Shaft adapter? Brass Coupler? Unsure. Can i get one locally in Dallas? Thank you, John

Keep it simple. A tapping on the side of the boat has worked for 50 years. Can adjust any way you want Always works. Don't have to load any thing. Johnny

Call J Bobo he makes some nice thumpers. Quality craftsmen ship and well built. I got one from him awhile back and mounted in a spare compartment with the remote I don't do anything but turn it on and start catching fish. Bobo is great to deal with also.

I found a copper piece that was close to what I was looking for and just drilled a hole on each side and made it a set screw. It works. Fun project.

I wish people would quit asking Jbobo for "how to" tips. He built a great machine and has a target audience for that thumper. I on the other hand am interested in this thread because I enjoy building things myself. Too bad we can't have a thread for people that want to do it themselves and leave out all the people that want to knock us for trying.
