I went yesterday(Sunday)... Bridge bite was slow but did manage 10 over 12 inches in 2 1/2 hrs. Scanned a few of the main lake spots, and nada. Found a pile in 27ft of water holding fish and sacked up 8 more and called it a day.

Yep, I tried every color combo I had, but didn't think about changing the size of my jig head. I am still learning! Patience Grasshopper Patience

Told my wife and daughter that I'd go try to figure out this crappie fishing thing on Ray Hubbard and take them out once I had a clue... (they don't like the bass fishing routine... they get bored. Thought I'd have a better chance on keeping their interest with crappie... maybe not???) I went out on Ray Hubbard today to give it a go... Beautiful day; so, I hit the bridges... Score: 5 lost jigs, 0 bites. Had the 8lb line... loaded up on the various 1/8th oz hair jigs, crappie thunder, etc... (pink/chartreuse, junebug/chartreuse, white/blue); but, no luck...
So, back to the question hopefully to others that were out there as well... was it just an off day or was I just doin it wrong???

Use graph n find brush piles or structure of some sort in 25 ft if there is no fish move on and find something else keep graphing till u see fish then the chartreuse should produce something with it getting colder they could start moving out to ledges and drop offs pretty soon but find em on graph first to the forum!

I have fished Hubbard to 8 years but for sandbass and catfish, the only place I have ever seen people catch crappie is under the I30 or 66 bridge. I have never seen anyone fish standing timber or brush piles on that lake. Anyone who knows anything about crappie on Hubbard is usually pretty tight lipped.

What kind of electronics do you run?
I feel my success at catchn crappie comes from me NOT fishn visible structure. Visible structure that any & most any Joe Blow can pull up to & fish gets hammered daily... If you have side imaging put that money you spent to good use & find the non-visible structure it will hold more & better fish. Take a trip & only plan on finding structure with your units, its time that's well rewarded specially since MOST don't do it. You can thank me later....FISH ON....

Hubbard is a great crappie lake if you have good electronics and some time to search/scan.
