Progressive, Statefarm, Allstate and Farmers are the easiest to deal with. Make sure you don't get a policy that depreciates any part of your boat and make sure you get ample trailer coverage. This is good 411 from someone that has to deal with them. Also +100 on the trailer coverage. These new trailers are $7 to $9K to replace!

Have you dealt with travelers?

I'm an independent agent and fisherman, and can vouch that the trailer is the most overlooked part of the process. Know your trailers value and let your insurer know. Debra

worldwide marine is a broker, they find you the best deal possible and write the policy the way it needs to be written, I have been with Worldwide marine for 7 years and during those seven years I have been with three different insurance companies and with progressive twice. after I had a claim with them the next year they doubled their price, went back to bob, and he sent it back out did his magic and was with someone else, two years later had another small claim, insurance went back up, called Bob, and I was back again with progressive. Go figure. Any issues I call Bob, he explains everything to you and I have had zero issues. the policy is a guaranteed value, means I put a value on my boat and that is the what I am paying for. that way if its a total lose I am only out my deductible and I get the rest. Plain and simple.
Another gotcha you have to watch out for is the trailer value. Most will just insure it for 1k, but you need to ask yourself what will it cost to replace your trailer? Bingo insure the trailer for that amount, min of $4500. That is what I have mine valued. Before I did not know better. I had a well known carrier, and the trailer value was 1k, replacement cost was $4500, deductible was $500, so I was out $4000, luckily I found an older trailer that was never used and bought it for $3200.

Same thing happened to me but I was out bout 6K. Probably worst thing I could have ever done was not know that I was undervalued on the trailer. Should have known better. Live and learn
