I've had similar experience. I've now had 4 heart cath procedures. First was a heart attack. Full blown and no doubt. 2nd was from having angina constantly for the next year. Every day it felt like i had butterflies flickering in my chest. Nothing on MRI or stress test. 3rd time i was out of breath and fatigued. Went to DR. nothing showed on any tests. Cardiologist went in to look and found 99 percent blockage in widow maker.
Last year I had exact same symptoms and nothing showed on tests. They went in again and found nothing wrong. In have a total of 8 stents from first 3 proceedures
My cardiologist has said several times over the years one of the hardest things for them is to determine heart burn vs heart attack. Symptoms are very similar
Like the saying goes...dont doubt yourself to death. Get checked out!

you do realize if the heart enzymes, ekg, chest xray, CBC, and CMP labs are normal.... it wont show a reduced flow of blood in your heart, right? Maybe that's why the MD most likely told you to follow up with a cardiologist, and that's how you found the blockage. ER's are limited, and don't carry magic wands like on TV. Glad you followed up as directed and got the problem verified and repaired. The system worked, and you are alive. thank the good lord.

SketterRonnie, Yes I was aware of the limits of the tests. Just wanted to make members aware that one can have a heart condition with no typical symptoms and negative test results.

A friend of mine battled "heartburn" for 2 weeks, eating Tums like crazy before he finally had it checked out. Turned out he had been having mini-heart attacks the whole time. 4 stents later, he feels better.

SketterRonnie, Yes I was aware of the limits of the tests. Just wanted to make members aware that one can have a heart condition with no typical symptoms and negative test results. Labs wont show a heart blockage. Labs are reflective of damage to the heart muscle subsequent to an infarction (troponin, CK, CKMB, BNP etc). EKG will only be helpful if there is an arrythmia that is ongoing due to decreased cardiac blood flow, or once again there is damage to the heart muscle (elevated t wave and/or tombstone to you Medical types). Thallium uptake( stress test) may be helpful but the heart cath is the ultimate diagnostic tool. I dont know why anyone would be an ER doc.

I had no symptoms, yet my family doctor saw something on EKG that concerned him. Did the cath and stress test..yep blockage. Stint installed. I'm 60.

Went to the ER at 39. Knew in my mind I was having a heart attack. All the above test showed all was good. They sent me home and I came back to the ER the next night in an ambulance. There was no doubt what was up when I got there.

In 2014 i had bad pain in my chest and left arm. It had been happening on and off for a month or longer. Finally got so bad one night my wife carried me to a emergency room. Ran basic tests and found nothing. A few days later it happened again and we went to a different er. After the same tests, nothing seemed to be abnormal. After 3 hrs in there, they came and ran one more test. It was some kind of enzyme test and it took about 2 hours to complete. Next thing i knew I was in a ambulance on my way to ETMC to get a stint. I had blockage.
Men are like fish...If we'd learn to keep our mouth shut, we'd stay out of trouble.
