Hey gents. Looking to wade the Guad for the first time this trout season. I'll be needing to buy waders and boots obviously, but my question is mainly focused on the boots. Let's say I buy Orvis Encounter Wading boots. Would these be acceptable to wade fish the Texas Coast as well? Or vise versa, could I buy Foreverlast Predator Boots for flats fishing and wear them in the Guad?
Thanks for any help. This question is fly related cause... it's my main form of fishing.

In my experience its difficult to find a boot that works adequately on both the flats where you generally wade without waders and on cold water streams where you generally wade with waders.
The thing about those Forever last predator boots is they aren't made to wear with waders as I understand it, so using them on the Guad with waders could be problematic.
Also, that Orvis Encounter boot is a felt sole which has been banned in Alaska and other places.
IMO Simms makes the best boots out there...but like all Simms stuff they are very proud of their product.

Thanks for the response Meadowlark.
I was considering the Foreverlast boot in a larger size, to accomodate the waders, and would use wade socks with them in the summer time. The Encounter boot is available in a rubber sole.
I do admire the quality and workmanship of Simms gear, but it's outside my humble price range. (You probably couldve guessed that by my dual-purpose wader boot question, haha)

For fairly inexpensive shoes to wade in the gulf, go to your local SCUBA shop and buy a pair of booties. They have them with very good soles with very good traction.
I have used mine for wet-wading, and they're excellent!
