I camped at Mill Creek this past Saturday/Sunday. From the shoreline at the entrance to the creek I saw a large group of birds working off and on all morning. They stayed about 200 yards off the bank and went up and down the channel. I never saw any big fish splashing-just birds diving and picking off small shad. They were definitely feeding. A few boats came over but they were too far out for me to see if they caught anything. I fished from the bank but didn't catch anything. Fairly steady wind out of the north on Sunday morning so blowing right into that bank.

Was there this last week and huge bunches of birds working. Kept chasing and drifting into the birds but only picked up some random small fish here and there. I came to the conclusion just because the birds are working doesn't mean the fish are under them I guess. Watched several other boats working birds like us and nobody was catching many. I may just not know how to catch em.

Those birds picking up dead shad mean the fish are feeding deeper, the dead shad or wounded shad are floating to the top. That is why there are no splashes. Watch your graph for deeper fish.

Thanks for the feed back. What lure(s) would you recommend? I don't have electronics on my boat yet so kinda fishing blind. That being said what kind of electronics do y'all recommend as I know nothing about them. Just sold old boat that was using 20 year old technology so I'm not up to speed.
