In all the years of buying tackle I finally did it right. I placed an online order the other day and only bought what I was out of or I was very close to being out of. Plus it was the tackle I use daily, nothing that looked good and I thought I had to have it. I may have bought four to five years worth, but it will not go to waste like all that other junk I have bought and still remains hanging on peg boards unopened. I have come to the decision that I am a fishing tackle hoarder. It is a problem and I am working on it. So many others have this same issue, it's crazy what we buy and never use in this sport.

Congrats on being able to control yourself, it's something a lot of us can't do when it comes to buying tackle. The kid across the street from me has gotten a ton of unopened stuff from me over the years.

I know it is waste of money. I have kept everything from childhood till now. I still have the very first tackle box my parents bought me as a kid and I'm now sixty years old. I have huge cardboard boxes loaded with stuff, from equipment to make baits to old baits I use to make, plus store bought junk. But that order the other day is the first step in the right direction of rationality and it felt great.
Cleaning out my work shop a week ago and ran into box that I thought I knew what was in it. But there was more, I found some old fishing reels that I used twenty years ago and they were in their box at that. Also found a box of fishing yoyo's. Think there is two dozen of these yoyo's.

I think yo-yo's are illegal in Texas now.

Is that to promote the sale and use of electronic games for kids instead? What about marbles?

I know there was a law that said if you used them you had to be there to remove your catch. In other words you had to be very close by at all times while in use. You use to be able to put them out and then come back later to remove your catch and bait them back up. I did find them on the internet for sale today, so they haven't been band. I haven't used these for the past forty years, guess I should toss them out, just junk to me now.

Oh my, I did not catch the part about the correct spelling of waste up in my first post. I know it really bothers some people to no end, so I fixed it. My wife cannot stand bad grammar either; she will call people out on it as well.

I did look up the Texas law on use of fishing yoyos and they are not legal to use here.
