Hi guys!

You might recall I started my hunt for cats last winter and learned a lot... including catching shad.

Want to try tomorrow on Lewisville. Looking for blues or channels. What depths should I be looking this time of year?

Tried from the bank last weekend with fresh shad and 5 rods out for 5 hours and not a bite. Not even a turtle. Was only in about 5-7 FOW though on a windy point. Do I need to get deeper?

Just general thoughts for this time of year would be welcomed. Blues or Channels really.

Blues are at all depths amigo! Depends on your style of fishing. You can catch em on anchor in 2 ft or drifting out in 35. Scan em, mark em, Fish em! texas

Cool. Was going to take the kayak tomorrow but instead will take the bass hunter. This allows me to keep shad alive for a bit and have room to fish 4 rods.

In the little boat its hard to get too deep where I launch. I have a decent creek I can get into and then some points with about 15 FOW.

As long as I can get the shad... I should be able to get on them if there are still fish shallow.

Will keep you posted and all tips welcome!

About depths; I was out late yesterday afternoon (Thursday) and managed 7 eaters from 2-3 feet of water, bobber fishing, just on the edge of flooded brush. Oh, was using Stubby's bait--cannot say enough good things about his bait. Stupid cats would hit Stubby's and ignore my little wounded shad sitting right next to it (on dead rod). huh

After today, I would say flooded brush is the way to go. Sun rise to about noon. They were biting on cut shad.

Sadly I was not able to fish today. But I appreciate everybody's help.

I'm a beginner but I will be going after blue cats again from my tiny boat this winter. Like I did last winter but this time I have better luck
