I know plenty can change in a week but I will be on Lake Tyler next weekend for the first time. Taking my Senior to visit the UT Tyler campus as he will be attending there next year. We have rented a house on the lake and I plan to bring the boat so we can do some fishing while there. I'm just wondering what the fish are doing. Is the Fall pattern in full affect? Middle to backs of creeks? Really, any basic info would be greatly appreciated.
It looks like the lake is a little low too. I know normally the lake is safe to run. Does the low level change anything?
Thanks,

I have a couple of spots that I can share with you from my mapping work that I have saved. It looks like a very special place. Lots of small sharp points. Excellent shoots leading to boat houses that have been dredged. Find those dredged spots that extend off shore and you will have some nice underwater shallow structure on both banks of these small ditches. Not going to have the hardwoods which is what it usually takes this time of the year. There are only a few spots listed on both lakes as submerged Hardwoods and all are out in the wind. A few of the coves is showing some bushes and lay downs off the bank; but not many. Club Lake Cove on the North shore in the last third is one of those. You will also see an example of Funnel Points clustered in one area. Lots of fish can pile up on them before and after the spawn as well as following the Shad to the coves this Fall. Tyler 1 - Is in Gilley Creek just NW of Langley Island. This spot has good contour with ins and outs off shore which is where you should begin by keeping your boat in deeper water as not to disturb the fish that are shallow. Man in the front cast to the RED Xs and Man in the back drags a Crig on contour in 15 to 20 ft.. Make this your first pass on both side of the creek as marked with the RED Spray Line. Always fish into the wind unless it is a fairly calm day then drift with the wind for a silent presentation. On the NORTH shore you have islands, Old House Foundation, Roadbed that runs parallel with the contour. This type of road provides the flat spot that Big Bass are looking for as a stair step to do their business. Make long cast to the roadbed with a short Crig, Cranks, and Light Crig eight oz. With a Grande Fat Baby Fry. Then move onto the road bed going north to get you to the shallow Foundation which means great structure. The man made ditch at the end of the Spray Arrow will provide structure at the mouth. Work back into the cut a few yards looking for Lay-downs. The first boat house out on the point will also be a major target. On the South shore work the contour same as above. You will be able to position the boat deep on this whole route to the Roadbed and Submerged Bridge casting to all the RED Xs along the route. Man in the back continues to drag until you establish a pattern then both can get after the fish in that area. He goes back to dragging at every new spot until the pattern is established. The Bridge will be an excellent piece of stricture off the point that the roadbed goes to on shore. Again as the road crosses the small point that puts it running parallel with the contour, so that means a flat spot for the huge Bass that hang around the Bridge to move a very short distance to spawn and or feed. Tyler 2 - Is in the same near by basin. It is the example of Funnel Points that fish will stage on for feeding this time of year and again for the Spawn. These are in a protected cove that breaks back SW.. Keep your boat on contour as above and cast to all the points working all four. Work your way back to the Culvert and Road bead. This a deep water cut and it sets in 20ft of water providing the needed structure when the lake is up. The structure it provides in the middle of the ditch will be unmatched with the 4 funnel points out front.

Fast Lane, thanks for the added input. Those areas still seem like good areas to me. Lots of structure. Would you agree?
IS the lake safe to run even down a few feet?
Thanks again, fellas.

Thanks again, fellas. Very Safe to run I would go through the channel and fish the east lake.
