.38 or .380 how effective can you be in a crowded situation inside a larger building?
I know a .38 would be a great gun for a hold up, robbery, face to face deal....but over 10 yards away....man you better be lucky. I'd prefer to have my baretta 92fs, but it's big and heavy. perhaps in a shoulder holster. It's 2017, can we not invent another caliber for concealment and long distance? It's only a factor that longer the barrel the more accurate it is ..... WRONG WRONG WRONG !! Pacticing continuously is the only factor of making YOU accurate and better at any distance . Barrels can have the slightest bend and be off , sights could be bent and off , or you maybe a nervous person . Being in control and practice , that's all you need .... other than a gun you can trust to work when used !! Sure makes a difference for me. My gun like pictured above is pretty accurate. .380, not so much. Tiny frame, hard to hold effectively. Basically last resort gun.

With advancements in ammo technology in the last 5-10 years, 9mm is plenty for taking down two legged varmints. It's my favorite caliber. I need to look for a external/manual safety in a small profile gun.

With the size of some 9mm these days, I think .380 is harder and harder to justify. Just not much difference in size oe weight like before. A .380 will kill like any other gun . A story I read last year where a woman was attacked from behind and she could not turn around because the assailant was holding her from behind . She was able to pull her .380 and raise it up to her shoulders and fired backwards and luckly she hit her assailant and that stopped her attack . But that was pure luck cause she could have missed , and she could be deaf in the ear closest to where the gun was and the assailant might have seen what she was doing and took it away from her . The only thing i'm confirming here is she used a .380 , got lucky and lived to tell about it .

No doubt about it. It's nice the kick isn't as bad too.

With what is going on in this country these days, you need to figure out how to conceal an AR or you will be out-gunned for sure. Start wearing a Matrix type long jacket and carry it under that. Keep it on all the time and you should be conditioned for the summer when it starts. An AR also fits in a rod box nicely and beats slinging a crappie bait at other fishermen when they start crowding you on your fishing spots.

Too subjective a question! Short answer is whatever you're most comfortable, confident and competent carrying. Experience as many likely carry forearms as you can, then decide for yourself.
Fishing, a man knows a serenity of soul and peace of mind that he finds in doing nothing else, and it makes no difference whether or not he catches anything. The mind of a true fisherman is not on petty subjects.

Tom whatever you get, make sure it's comfortable or you won't carry it as much. I'm going to sell my double stack gun and get a single stack, less shots, yes, but, lighter and much slimmer. I'm sending you PM.

Hit somebody with a .380 (other than in the head), there is a good chance he's gonna shoot back before he dies....jmo

Well I want something that has stopping power and yet is easy to control. I carry a Ruger sr40c. Small carry size, crisp trigger and the 40 S & W is a stopper. 9 + 1 capacity. I carry in front pocket just fine.
