Hi guys long time no post. Anyway I need a suggestion for trolling motor for friend boat. He's got a deep V fiberglass boat 21-footer and I have the slightest clue if an 80 thrust would be sufficient? 60" shaft ?

Bruce I would get the biggest one you can afford. You can always lower the power down but you can never add power. Just my 2 cents.

I would think at least a 36 volt 105 lb minimum. Not sure of length on that boat....

I have a similar setup with a 20 ft 2010 Hurricane deckboat with Yamaha 115 OB. Initially put a MinnKota 80pd thrust & it works great on Lewisville/Ray Roberts/Fork even on windy days. Doubt if less power would move it as smooth or all day. Also, have a 3 bank charger with 3 batteries for overnight charging. Good luck.

I have a deep v and an ipilot 70 lb 60 inch shaft. It is ok but I want more. It struggles sometimes. I�m afraid if I go with too much thrust it will tear my tm bracket off or break that 60 inch shaft. With what I have now it really tweaks everything up front when it jumps up to high speed to get back on my spot in high winds. I won�t go any higher than 80 lb myself for those reasons. My bow is so high I have maybe 1 to 1.5 ft of my lower unit is in the water with the head about 6 inches above the gearbox. When you see the shaft bend 6 to 8 inches on high speed it makes you wonder what is fixing to give.

I have a 22 ft center console with a 101 thrust Minn Kota. Works great. Remember you can make big little, but you cannot make little big.Buy the biggest troll motor thrust wise. Go ahead and buy the iPilot set up as well

have 21 ft falcon I/O weighs close to 4000 lbs. have 80 lb 24 volts don't need anymore.

Wow, those I/O's are heavy! I'm guessing you meant 4,000.....

OK guys. Choice been made. Minn Kota Riptide Ulterra 112 thrust 36 volts 72" shaft. i-pilot. Ain't my boat so I don't want to get hang by the neck because of not enough power and not enough shaft on choppy days. So hope I made the right decisions. Btw I will be the captain of that boat so hope I like it too !!

Wew!! For a minute I thought someone was gonna say big mistake. Anyway this friend of mine got a nice size bay/gulf boat with a yamaha 300 on it. Worst case scenario we just put it on his gulf boat if it's too much shaft and too much power. But honestly I think that trolling motor is gonna glue us in place on the spot lock on choppy days. Anyway guys. Thanks for the inputs. Fall fishing down here is beginning to fire up for us. Lots of nice fish came down from Lake Ray Hubbard and they are hungry. Fish are beginning to exibits their fall feeding patterns and staking out at structures.

Good choice!!! Thats exactly what i've got on mine and dude its a BEAST! It'll sit 3.5' under the water on calm days and keep you from buzzN on windy days. They're awesome
