Good video! Very similar to how I do mine. When I first received Mr. Harper's map I sat in the boat and manually entered in the information. I've only been able to fish a few spots so far, but after fishing it I drop a fish icon on each casting point I caught a fish on. I think this will help me to fish even more efficiently on an already super efficient system. 👍

Nice video BigHead. Thanks again for the extremely detailed video, lots of great information. If you haven't looked in the Contour Elite software & humminbirdPC software, I would highly recommend it. I take Donald's mapping information and input it directly in the Contour Elite software from my computer screen which helps save time. After that I send it out google earth and then the humminbirdPC software to convert it into a file the boat unit can use. I then go in and fine tune everything on the humminbird unit. Thanks for the video, looking forward to the next.

BigHead,
When I'm looking at the marked screen shots, do I use the thick red line for boat positioning? X's as areas to hit hard? What does the x w/circle represent? I also have some initials listed on the screen shots, "FP"?

Also, do you(is it even possible to) recreate the boat positioning line onto the HDS unit, prior to actually using the trail feature on the water?

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Hey jcwebb70

Yes the thick red spray painted line is what he puts on the map to give you an idea of where you would want to position your boat. Yes the Xs are areas you would want to cast at and I believe the Xs with circles around them mark some type of structure or object he wants you to cast at. Im not sure what the initials mean without seeing them. You may read the write up on that particular spot again and see if theres anything in there that clarifies what the initials are supposed to mean. If you cant find it let Mr. Harper know and hell clarify.

On my Humminbird I usually put waypoints down with a car icon marking where I need to position the boat and when I actually drive the spot in my boat I save the trail and delete the icons.

I hope that helps but if theres something I missed let me know.

Thanks for all your help BigHead248. Super points that are close together and block the mouth of a creek or ditch are Funnel Points (FP). I usually high light those with a White filled in Circle and type in Red FP.

What are some of the other symbols your depth finder has on it that you could drop on spots that mean something to you. Most of these guys need symbols for.
- Funnel Point - Gouge - Rocks - Hump - Culvert - Underwater Bridge - Inside Bend - Ledge - Top Water Shoreline - Heavy Timber - Brushed out Dock - Bushes - River Trees - Rubble Piled On Lip of River

So there is no way to overlay a route on your depth finder or highlight a contour line? I guess you could keep dropping Icons along the route on the 20 ft. contour in and out around the points; but that would take a bit to do. What would be nice is, to drop a Icon at the beginning of the trail and one at the end of the trail on the 20 ft. contour line and the depth finder would high light the line any color you chose to represent the boat path.

Each person you work with holds some promise to your future success.
