I'm trying to help my brother in-law with his boat. Does anyone have any recommendations for prop size and pitch? He has a mercury 125hp saltwater series motor/2stroke with an 18 foot kenner vision I think. The existing prop was pretty dinged up, and was a 19 pitch. It is not the original prop. Thanks in advance.

i agree with pat.

except for one thing.
since your from baytown, i'm assuming you'll be in the ocean. If that's the case. go with a POLISHED finish. the satin prop WILL rust in the salt water.
You will also need to be sure and have the inside of the prop dipped to keep it from rusting.
i'm a powertech dealer, so if you buy a prop from someone, be sure to tell them it will be in saltwater.

Steve,
True it will rust, but it's more of a "golden" sheen. The satin finish takes oyster whacks a little nicer than the full polish. This is from personal experience.

Thanks for all your wisdom and information. Recently, he was given 2 more props, a s/s quicksilver 18p and s/s 21p. We are looking for a good happy medium for hole shot and top end. The bay we are normally in runs pretty shallow in some areas.

Kingwood, can you send me some info on that 22" high five?

just my opinion. but, if your going to be in the ocean, that high five will NOT be a good choice. They blow out very bad in rough water.

That RXB 4 blade will not blow out, and will still offer very good mph, and holeshot, etc.

OK thanks Pat, I appreciate the help. I'll be buying a boat soon as well, so I'm trying to learn as much as I can buy helping my bro-in-law.
