How often do you clean your live wells ?? What do you use to clean them with? What is best product for keeping fish alive in well?
And on a side note, do you ever clean your weigh-in bags ?

I try to clean out my live wells once a year after the shad spawn. I take it to the car wash. Spray the inside of the live well with some bleach type cleaner then wash it out real good. Rinse it out a couple times to be sure the bleach residue and smell is gone.

And on a side note, do you ever clean your weigh-in bags ? i never clean my LWs, but the best product for keeping fish alive in them is water and dissolved oxygen. You can buy additives to help with the o2 carrying capacity and cool the water in hot weather but most of the year you don't need to add anything, just run the aerators. I don't add anything unless i have a fish that is stressed from some sort of trauma from the catch like tongue hooked fish. In that case odds are against you whether you add anything or not.

I clean mine whenever it looks like it needs to be cleaned. However, I NEVER use chemicals of any kind. Simply not worth the risk. Just get a hose and a magic eraser then rinse it out real well. It will look brand new when you are done.

Whenever I get home after having fish in one I just spray it out with the hose, wipe it down with a rag, and usually use the hose to flush out the lines going to and from the livewells incase there is trash in them.

All I do is open the lids so they dry out in between trips... If I find shad, crawfish or other body part I'll rinse with tap water when I get home... Dan

I spray it out at the car wash every time I wash the boat (every 4/5 trip to the lake).

I clean them after every tournament with wet paper towels then leave the lids open to dry. Those that dont clean are you not getting the shad, craw, other parts and [censored] out each use? Sounds nasty and not very good for your fish.

1. I usually clean mine out after every use
2. I either use Dawn or Simple Green. Then wash it thoroughly with clean water. Don't use anything that is harsh.
3. I have TH Marine Oxygenators, so I use the G Juice that TH Marine offers. It's specially formulated for Oxygenators.

Have also never cleaned mine, occasionally I reach in there to remove any shad or crawfish.
