I can pretty much always find them at boat ramps in NTX reservoirs. Just happens so though, that there are Shad everywhere in the lakes up here.
Hopefully someone from down there reads this.
Don't worry about the mule, just load the cart

The shad should be moving into the backs of creek channels. Probably depends on the lake and water temps ( cold front effect things in the fall ). General secondary points, you will find shad , which means you'll find bass.

Oct. and Nov. are Crayfish spawning season. They will be doing their thing on the Spawning flats that you fish in the Spring. I like to use a Chatter Bait to mimic the fleeing action which is two slow up and down pumps, not letting the bait touch the bottom. Then let the bait rest on the bottom. Use living rubber skirting so it keeps moving when the bait is at rest. This is when the strike will happen as the Bass always follows, then sizes up the claws on a Crayfish before eating it. Arm the Chatter with Mister Twister trailers. They have 4 small curly tails.
Bass always follow Shad; but that does not mean they are always eating Shad. As the Shad move to the backs of the creeks this Fall all species of fish are hammering them and busting water. Bass are there picking up the dead and injured. They are more interested in the crazy action that all these other species are showing. They will strike to kill anything that is acting out of the ordinary. Mimic the Pray Fish that are acting crazy if you want to get bit and not the shad. These are Blue Gill, Crappie, Sand Bass and Yellow Perch. I again like to mimic these with the Chatter Bait and build the skirts and trailers to match those species. Arm the Chatter with the Cabalas 4 inch small Swim Bait for a trailer. Many colors match the Pray Fish.

Everywhere on rayburn. Seems to be the case a lot of the time. Have to try and find the schools of the big gizzards, not just the threadfin. That can be hard but very rewarding
