Has anyone fished the Brazos below Whitney lately?
I am looking into taking a kayak trip with my fly rod in a couple of weeks.

Yes used to fish it before it was cool, if youre really wanting some good bass fishing take your kayak below possum kingdom. Get some 16 lbs fluorocarbon and a small 1/4-3/8 oz finesse jig and youll have a 20+ fish day with the bonus guad and smallmouth every now and then.
Thanking the lord for another day on the water

Its VERY low right now but you'll still be able to find fish. Just be ready to do some walking. They recently installed a new generator and when they release there isn't much warning. The release is a lot quicker and the river will rise fast, just be ready. If anything you can float down to Dick's Canoes.

Txfiremn, I have been thinking about going up there. I have a 2 man bass buster so it will work good. What baits and presentations were you using. I am 75 so I move a little slower nowadays. thanks

T rigged and shakey heads work good in the deeper spots, as well as a finesse jig. Don't be afraid to throw your top water in the very shallow water, I've caught some big fish that way. I'm not sure how big the bass buster is but the water is very shallow in places. I usually have to drag my kayak 30-40 yards in some places.
