 How much do you tip at restaurants?

Meal under $10: $2, sometimes $3
Meal over $10: usually 20%, every once in awhile 20-30% if the service was exceptional
Once I became a full time working adult, I've never tipped a server lower than 20% regardless of poor quality of service.
Curious what others tip.

15-20% depending on service with $2 minimum.

We rarely eat out. Like maybe 2-3 times a year. I usually leave at least $5. If they're a bad server, they get $2 or less. That's very rare. We also are about the easiest customers to deal with. Not demanding, don't complain. So a server has to just be really bad at their job to get a low tip.

What's a restaurant?
I dine out at the drive thru windows, Brookshires and Walmart delis.
McDonald's for a sausage cheese biscuit and hash browns, Sonic for cheeseburger and fries, D Q for milkshakes and chicken finger baskets, KFC for the $5 Fillup, Brookshires for fried chicken and an occasional side of ribs.
There is a reason. I usually ear alone and hate along up space in a restaurant.

+1 Pretty much as a minimum. I tip more quite a bit like for food delivery I usually go well over 20%.

Minimum 5 bucks even on a $10 meal, after the $5 usually 30% or even more if the service was good.. just the way we are, those folks leaving pocket change (literally some quarters, dimes and pennies) to someone who just waited on you deserves a growing area punch.

20%+ almost every time time, maybe a bit more if the service was very good.
I'll tip less if the service is poor and I think the server was at fault. You can't fault the server for bad food, but he/she is responsible for refilling drinks, and checking to see if everything is OK, and keeping me supplied with chips and salsa if I'm at a Mexican joint.

Say your bill was $1500 for you and 5 guest. Still 20%? IMO for a bill that high that would be a 15% tip and if anyone thinks that is excessive they should eat someplace cheaper. I can't imagine me being in a setting like you are describing $250 per person is a bit on the high side for most on here.

Say your bill was $1500 for you and 5 guest. Still 20%? 25 percent because typically in that type of deal you have 2-3 people waiting on you. The waiter, his assistant and maybe a wine person.

I throw out a Franklin or two most of the time! Unless it's an expensive place, then I donate at least 500 to their favorite charity.
