Hello everyone. I've heard of people fly fishing LLELA for trout, and seen some videos. When they're stocked, I want to try my hand at it. I primarily fly fish for gar and carp, so this will be a different field for me. I was curious, what are some good flies that would be good for the trout over there? Thanks!

A huge waste of TPWD money, but if you take a kid - take a woolly bugger as well!

LLELA was a lot more fun a few years ago when the city of Lewisville supplemented the TPWD stockings with much larger trout, I believe from Missouri. They quit doing that and now the LLELA stocking is just the small Texas trout spread out over a lot of water. And you get to pay $5 for the opportunity to catch them. If you want to catch Texas stockers you are better off just going to one of the community ponds that get trout.

last year it was one of the first stockings. 2015 they didn't stock with the big trout because of the all the rain and flooding.
