I still have to get a couple more tons of stones to finish up the back and sides of the waterfall area, but other than that and putting some vegetation, some bluegill, and a few bass in there I am pretty much done! Great start to a natural looking waterfall and pond. Add a few natural evergreen shrubs around the perimeter to tie everything together.

I hate to be that guy, cause I think it looks great, but...
What happens when it rains? It looks like you are trapping water up against the house. Looks good. Only thing I would have done different was put it closer to the back of the yard. And I wonder what will happen when you go to sell the house?

We did something very similar in our backyard but the bottom pond was slightly larger with about 3' deep and and few sq ft larger. We put in "feeder" goldfish at first so we didn't waste any $$ on dead koi. They did great and were nearly as big as Koi when we sold the house. We had Bio Balls waterfall which was great but maintenance is definitely an issue. Completely emptied it out every March and washed the rocks while the fish sat in a trashcan all day. A funny story, my son put 3 small 8-10' bass in it that he caught in our local park pond. Watching those guys was crazy. He also put in a few dozen minnows. The bass would literally herd the minnows into the middle of the pond and then they'd take turns slashing through the terrified minnow school. I watched for about 15 minutes before I had enough and he retaught them and put back in the large park pond. It was brutal to watch. They were like a pack of wolves... My pond is roughly 11' x 14' about 3' deep as well. I have the two bio-falls filters up top and my two pumps are housed in a custom built box that has the same filter media as the bio-falls lining all 4 interior walls of the pump house. I also fit drainage socks on the pumps for yet another level of filtration. The pumps quickly disconnect from the plumbing via gator locks and I have inline check valves in the plumbing at the pond end and ball valves up near the falls, so removing the pump box to clean it is a cinch. Up in the bio-falls, I have two layers of the filter media kept in place by bags of lava rock (substituting for bio-balls). I'm also going to add some more cover in the pond by creating some tunnels around the pump box. I am excited to get some fish in there, it should be fun!

What happens when it rains? It looks like you are trapping water up against the house. Looks good. Only thing I would have done different was put it closer to the back of the yard. I thought about that too...if the right buyer sees it I think it would be a clincher, but if I put it on the market and it sits too long, I can always fill 'er in and either sell the stone or landscape with them at current or new place. I guess time will tell...

The reason I put it where I did is because I had the patio poured to kind of look like a small wave followed by a larger wave, and I wanted to enhance that water flow feel with the project.

Those are some giant fish  Looks fantastic Jedfish  Also looks like a lot of work you did. I think that you'll have many years of enjoyment from your creation.

I like that a lot!
I agree a few bluegill and a couple bass will make it even better.
Probably need to throw some minnows in from time to time for the bass to eat till the bluegills reproduce.

Probably need to throw some minnows in from time to time for the bass to eat till the bluegills reproduce. Oh yeah, I definitely don't want my fly rod time to be wasted by the bass eating all my bluegill! There'll be plenty of forage for them to feed on. I frequently have baby bullfrogs come in the yard to visit from the neighborhood water retention pond just down the street, so they will be a tasty treat in the summer and fall.
