No, no leaking oil. Just a very hard cold start. It's had intermittent start issues since we bought it.

Why would you not want to know what the problem is?

No smoke whatsoever.

HPOP is testing good.
ICP good.
FICM Voltage is good.
IPR is good.

Will test all again with a stone cold engine.

Well if it's not leaking oil, then fixing it may not be a huge deal. I'd call the dealer and see if they would split the repair cost with you if you take it to a Ford dealer.

Id hit the powerstroke forum, those guys will get you going in no time. Id still lean towards injectors though, hard start is a typical sign. Theres an easy test to find out, but it can be dangerous so I wont suggest it.

I wonder why it would run and start good if were the injectors? How come they would only cause hard cold start?

injectors are opened by oil pressure on that engine, unfortunately I believe the cab must come off to get to the high pressure pump on that motor if I remember correctly.

No, can be done with cab on. HPOP just replaced last week.

Injectors require 500psi to operate. HPOP is currently putting out 773psi...well above minimum spec.

Not sure. But why would that only create "cold" start issues. Once started and warmed for a minute, runs like a dream.

only a guess but maybe losing its prime and not getting enough oil to the high pressure pump for it to make enough pressure to allow the computer to start let engine start. Once engine is running it holds prime for a while allowing it to restart.
