FWIW, when I worked in a boat the two tickets that everyone wanted to fight in court were light violations, and No Wake Zone violations. From the attitude I see on the street, I imagine it's even worse now on the water. I still recall a guy I wrote (from Houston, naturally) who kept asking what would happen if I didn't show up for court. I kept telling him that I would be there. He kept asking back, "But what if you aren't?" I finally asked if he was planning to kidnap me before the trial, and he finally shut up. For those chuckleheads who get a citation, it's not about being accountable for their actions. It's about getting out of it, any way they can. I had a guy who was in the city park after it was closed (it closed at 10 PM), playing basketball with his buddies. A noise complaint was called in, and the guy told me that his father works for (big city)PD, and he's already beat one ticket from us for that. So I gave him another one, which he fought. The judge told him that since he'd already been to court over one citation for the violation, he obviously knew that the park closed at ten. Guilty as charged. That's the attitude the violators have today.
I get people parking in front of the No Trespassing signs and climbing over the fence to fish in a private, posted lake at least once a week. They always tell me, "But I'm not keeping any fish." I always ask them, "Do the signs say 'Catch and Release Only', or do they say 'No Trespassing?'. They always complain that I'm an a$$hole for issuing them a trespass citation. One guy I wrote works for a friend of mine. He told her what a jerk I was, because I wrote him a ticket for fishing. She asked me about it, so I told her that he was trespassing (for the third time) on a posted lake to fish, and that I could have arrested him rather than issue the citation. She said that when she told him that she'd asked me about it he got pretty embarrassed......... But that's how people roll today.

That`s the way I feel when people park in the Handicap parking space with no placCard and regular plates. Guilty, I've forgot a time or two to put my placecard up. Thankfully I've never gotten a ticket for it. Law only allows for on vehicle with HC license plate and one place card. I chose to have the HC licence plate on my Harley. Should see some of the looks I get when I park that thing in a handicap spot. I've even had old codgers come up and threaten me to move it or they will call the police. I just look at my plate then look at them with a big smile and tell them to get a life.

Seen this happen at Athens way too much lately. Be getting ready to launch and a ski boat take off from the bridge and go all way through the no wake to main lake. Unfortunately every time I see it, AMWA is never outside on their dock...
On the other hand, I have heard AMWA scream from their dock to a boat and also seen them chase down boats. They are usually pretty good

Watch the 35 bridge on Lewisville. That will tell you no one gives two [censored]... Saw a guy fishing Sunday on a piling and a cobalt speed boat come within 50ft of him on full plane prob running 25-30. Same day a jet ski with two passengers was weaving in between the new 35 bridge pilings.. Oh and a pontoon I saw blow through with no [censored] given...
Weekends and holidays you just gotta stay away because Lake Lewisville is dangerous for a reason. Very few patrols and too many ignorant people.

I actually saw a lake patrol go after a wake board boat on Kiowa this year. Seems they are not allowed to fill the ballast tank on that lake. Also watched them go after a few more boats and jet skis for reasons unknown but they were very active that holiday weekend. I've seen the dock owners out here throw empty beer bottles at them as they go flying past them. One guy pulled out a one ounce slab and bounced it off a wake boat...

I have to wonder why someone who is driving a Harley needs a handicapped parking space. One of my pet peeves has always been the people who aren't mobility handicapped but have a placard taking up a handicapped slot near the door, and the guy with the wheelchair has to park out in left field because of it. It's legal. But it isn't ethical, or fair, or the right thing to do.

My Mom passed way from Lou Gehrig's disease. We always got her a handicap card, but she wouldn't use it. She said she was leaving it for someone who needed it. Also had a guy at the gym with a card. He parked in the front door, came in and lifted free weights for an hour and then got on tread mill. But that's where our country is these days. ME FIRST.

Well, without knowing why you are designated as handicapped there's nothing to cry about to my congressman, is there. But you have to admit, unless your Harley is one of the old Aermacchis, or you have training wheels / trike kit on your bike, one has to wonder how someone unable to walk very far can safely operate a 700 to 900 pound motorcycle. You may have a valid explanation, but you haven't given it yet, so most folks are bound to wonder.......

And most folks are bound to wonder when they see someone in a Walmart electric cart whos 200lbs overweight is it a thyroid problem or gluttony. And if you ever saw me you wouldnt think Im disabled by looking at me because I eat right, exercise, and try to take care of myself.
