A buddy just made me think of something I had not thought of before.

The dad, or I believe he is actual the "step-dad," claimed he was punishing her for not drinking milk...this was 3 a.m., so he made her stand in the backyard knowing coyotes have been seen there, or at least in their alley.

My buddy may be right. "He/step-dad" did something to her, hid the body and made the story up.

Addendum: If a coyote got her, she would fight, but the coyote would subdue her by the neck, then take her off to a den or "kill/eat" spot. He would not do it right there in the back yard with her screaming.

Who makes a kid drink milk at 3AM? This alibi stinks worse than the milk.

The most dangerous predator walks on two legs, not four. Might it be possible that a criminal saw an opportunity and took her?

No, I don't give this idea much weight, but might it possible?

We'd have to see the yard to make any discernible account of what "might" have happened.

The first thing I thought was that he made her stand in the "back" yard by a tree. Is there a fence, could a coyote or a "person" see her in the dark and attack if there is a wooden fence? Doubtful...

Did he make her stand outside but in the front or side yard where predators, both 2 or 4-legged could get to her?

Did he do something to her, and we'll learn of this terrible deed later once he breaks down?

Did she simply wander off, and luckily, nice people found her, and will come forward today? Will the little girl be okay?

Addendum: The more I think about it, I believe "he" is guilty, unfortunately, and I can only imagine how he sees his life crumbling before him.

As soon as I first heard this story on KRLD this morning I knew something didn't add up:
A three year old up at 3:00 AM? If she was up and thirsty, milk rather than water? The wait to call authorities?

I hope Richardson PD does a very thorough investigation so there aren't any loopholes to crawl through.

The coyotes that come into town are almost always loners, and they are chasing rabbits or the occasional yappy dog. Can't see a lone yote coming anywhere near a human. And if it did, there would be plenty of evidence sprinkled around the yard.

I fear that poor girl will be found buried by her parents. If that proves to be the case, fry em.

As soon as the Amber alert was sounded Saturday, my sister and I both said something was wrong about the story. She was at the lake with Mom and I. We both were thrown off by a 3 year old only weighing 22 pounds.

I believe she's dead and he killed when he was frustrated.

Unfortunately this seems like the most likely outcome.

Not good clock management. He had five hours to come up with a reason she was missing and went with wiley coyote.

Per DMN, he has been released on bail and CPS has placed the 4 year old daughter in foster care.

From one news article within the hour...

"Wesley Mathews, 37, ordered Sherin Mathews to stand next to a tree behind the fence at their Richardson home at around 3 a.m. Saturday, according to an arrest affidavit. The tree is across an alley from the home."

That answers one question I had. The tree he claims he made her stand by is "outside their own fence, and across the alley."

Therefore, at 3 a.m., if he actually did this, anything could have happened to her, and she was probably terrified, so she walked to the street and someone picked her up.
My bet is still on the dad. He did something to her and made the story up.
