I currently use 10/12 lb invisx flouro on my deep crankbait set up. It works fine, however after a few weeks the line does show memory which cause some tangles which eventually result in the line just breaking deep in the spool.
So I’m considering something like power pro super slick 8 20 lb braid. I’d be giving up the sinking and near invisibility qualities of flouro but I’d be maintaining the no stretch. I’d dial my drag down so as not to rip trebles out of their mouth. I was also thinking with the even smaller diameter I might gain noticeable distance on long casts to help me cover more water.
Thoughts?

20# Super Slick diameter is the same as 6# mono. That might be a little small. Probably cause more backlash / knots. 40# = 10# mono and 50# = 12# mono. However, you might consider a flouro leader so you can break off if you need. If not you it would probably straighten out the hooks and you might get your bait back.
I know some guys that use braid on everything and they catch a lot of fish.

I only use braid on my single hook setups. Treble hooks and braid are not a good combination. I also use 12 invinx fluro and have had good luck with it also I use some KVD line conditioner and it seems to help with the memory

I agree 100% #20 is super, super thin, casts a long way and if you get hung up it will dig deep into your reel and subject to bad backlashes. I fish PK on the north end with usually stained water so a mono leader is also good of you don't like flouro. I like #50 more manageable.

It's a reaction bait so just try using a mono or copoly. The floating factor of mono will be negligible on a crankbait. The only real advantage to flouro is feel which is not that big a deal on a moving bait. I totally agree with not using small diameter braid. It will give you head aches.

I agree with squib. McCoys Mean Green is what I use. 12# is the same diameter as most 10# monos. It is super strong, abrasion resistant, and has a good amount of stretch AND low memory on it. So if fits what you are looking for. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck. OH, I have no affiliation to McCoys neither, but I have been using it since 2000.

I use 30lb super slick to a 6ft leader of copoly for deep divers
really like the sensitivity of braid and the flexibility of the leader
The thin diameter braid gets the crank down deep

I use Sunline Reaction flouro for all of my moving baits - plugs included - and really enjoy it. I believe it's still on sale at TW as well. It's made specifically for moving bait so as to have a slight bit of stretch to keep those hooks from ripping out of the fish. Very manageable on the spool, casts fine and so long as you don't have a tiny spool I haven't had any memory issues to speak of. Good stuff!
If you can't find em wind em.

Personally, I'd stick to fluorocarbon, just change it out more often. If you don't want to spend a lot of money constantly changing out fluorocarbon, then I would suggest co-polymer line.
